Be The Kind Of Parent

You Want To Be

No parent starts off knowing what to do...

And without conscious effort, our parenting methods can create conflict instead of connection. The authoritarian way modeled to many of us by our parents creates conflict, frustration, and endless power struggles, and it leaves us with broken and distant relationships with our children.

When we parent our children without working through our own history, we are destined to repeat painful patterns we ourselves experienced as children, no matter how badly we want it to be different.

It’s Never Too Late to Turn Things Around

No matter what your relationship with your child(ren) looks like right now, there is hope. Whether you are struggling with reacting in ways you don't want to or wishing to interact with your children in a way that encourages them to share their lives with you as they grow, it can be hard to believe there is truly another way. But I promise you there is.

None of us start off as parents knowing what to do. We create plans, try to be the people we want to be, and watch as our idealistic imaginings get run over by the reality of daily life and the immense pressures of caring for our kids.

Hello, I'm Linda Tu.

I’m a certified parenting coach with the Jai Institute for Parenting and a mom to a thirteen-year-old boy.

I became a parenting coach because I believe that every parent and child deserve to experience a loving, harmonious connection.

Once I understood how possible it was to build a relationship with children based on mutual trust, respect, communication, and collaboration, I became deeply passionate about supporting other parents in this life-changing work.

Parenting, while deeply rewarding, can often be very challenging.  However, if we have more support, guidance and tools, we will be more equipped to navigate those challenges.  I believe all children deserve to be guided and loved by the best version each of us has to offer them, as parents.  When we as parents thrive, our children thrive.

I know that you want to be a loving, peaceful parent who has a meaningful connected relationship with your children.  I would be very honored to be able to support and guide you in becoming the parent that you so desire.

More About Linda

The traditional ‘POWER-OVER’ model of parenting isn’t working

And this makes you feel like you’re going to spend the rest of your life struggling with your children and continue to feel like you’re just not doing a good job as a parent.

I believe that the real issue is that we’re not taught how to be the kind of parents most of us long to be, so we end up slipping into the patterns that were ingrained in us in our own childhoods.

The good news is that there is a method of parenting that proves to be effective, based on scientific studies and our growing understanding of child and brain development.  It’s a parenting methodology, developed by the Jai Institute for Parenting, that is rooted in evidence-based developmental science, psychology, and emotional intelligence.

I understand how hard it is to ask for help as a parent. This is why, when you work with me, you will be met with compassion, a non-judgmental openness, and a supportive, personalized, effective plan that I will personally guide you through every step of the way.

"Receiving parenting coaching from Linda is a life-changing event to my life. Linda is a great listener and always takes time to patiently understand and address my concerns. She is extremely knowledgeable and resourceful, her compassionate approach is empowering. Through Linda's guidance, I had been able to see myself with clarity and understand matters that had been standing in my way to build the trusting relationship with my child. Linda's peaceful and supportive approach helped me to feel relief from judgements and criticism. In this 12-weeks program, Linda supported me to identify my desires and hopes in my parenting style while restoring my confidence in parenting. She also provided me opportunities to gather tools and build skills to establish our own safe space that nourishes healthy communications and hear each other in our home. Linda's gentle and positive coaching also helped me to reconnect with myself and comfortably confront my feelings without needing to worry about being right or appropriate. My relationship with my child continues to grow stronger and closer even after our sessions are completed. Linda has helped me to find my path and passion to my positive parenting. She always celebrates with me for my progresses and accomplishments regardless big or small. I strongly recommend Linda's services to parents who are interested in enhancing the wellbeing for the whole family."

~Review by Y.H.~

"I am a full-time working father of two wonderful children, one boy and one girl, and I love to spend my downtime and weekends with them. We share a close relationship, and my goal in parenting is to nurture that bond and be their safe harbor whenever they seek advice or support. This is not an easy task, and I realized that I needed guidance when I noticed an increase in the frequency of my raised voice. Therefore, I decided to work with Linda from April 2025.

Linda helped me understand that I raised my voice because my needs were not met, not because my kids misbehaved. She also helped me rewind my childhood memories to help me understand that I subconsciously picked up the parenting styles from my parents; although some aspects still hold values, I recognized that many of those may lack scientific foundations and need to be changed.

Self-reflection is another significant part of this coaching. Linda has been a compassionate listener, allowing me to share my stories freely. We reviewed incidents I managed successfully and pinpointed areas for improvement.  I enjoyed our discussion and always gained new perspectives after our weekly meeting.

Finally, I would like to take this chance to reinstate that Linda’s coaching helps you understand yourself, feel your emotions, and recognize your family values, all of which are essential to empowered parenting. Thanks to Linda, I now understand "empowered parenting" well.  I understand the reasons behind my past reactions, and most importantly, I feel more equipped to communicate with my children in a healthy way in the future."

How It Works:

  • When you book a call with me, we’ll talk over the phone or Google Meet so I can get a sense of what’s going on for you and your family and where I can offer support.

  • I’ll explain my approach, and you can ask any questions you have and see what type of support would be the best fit for your life and schedule.

  • If it feels right to you, we can book our first session and get started.  If it’s not a good fit, I will do my best to offer alternative resources or suggestions for support, wherever possible. There’s no pressure of any kind, simply an opportunity to see if we are a good fit to work together.
